Our story
Small beginnings.
Lasting purpose.
A church family rooted in the Word of God and the renewing power of Jesus Christ.
It started in a living room.
In July 2018, a small group began meeting for Bible study on Wednesday evenings. They brought food, sang acoustic worship, and opened the Word together. As the group grew, gatherings expanded into neighboring rooms and hotel banquet halls.
A place to put down roots.
During the pandemic, the group shared Bible studies online from a living room. Later that year, they found a storefront on 34th Street and began gathering as a church in October.
A name for a new beginning.
In March 2021, the church became Renewal Church. The purpose remains the same: helping Lubbock experience new life in Jesus.
What we believe
The Word is our foundation.
We believe that God’s Word remains true and that His promises are for us today. We seek to know Jesus personally and to live in the freedom of a daily relationship with Him.
Renewal teaches repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and receiving the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in tongues, as described in Acts 2:38 and Acts 2:4.
